The Jolly Boys Club at work

Last year Brian managed to get hold of an old dilapidated fiberglass boat hull. It really wasn’t much of a “boat” at all. There were cracks here and there, the transom was weak and almost everyone who looked at it suggested it would probably be best to send the thing to the garbage dump.

Update: June 15 2013:

New reports indicate that the tow is scheduled to leave Cowichan Bay around midnight Friday June 21.

BC Aviation Museum

BC Aviation Museum

It’s a hard life in Cowichan Bay Village in the summertime. The weather tends to be sunny at least twice a week, friends who have wintered in other parts of the world begin straggling back, friendships are renewed and the social season begins. Such a struggle!

From time to time, we find ourselves in need of a break. A day trip is called for. We pile ourselves into the car and off we go in search of new adventure.

When the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre proudly unveiled it’s 450k building expansion back in September 2011, few of those outside the organization’s board of directors had an inkling of the financial problems that were then only just on the horizon.

According to information published in the Cowichan News Leader, a $210,000 grant was provided through the West Coast Community Adjustment Program, while $140,000 has come from existing reserves, contractor donations and a CVRD grant. An additional $100,000 was being sought to complete phase one of the endeavor.

If you look at it one way, Yves Muselle has made it possible for you to spend the whopping sum of $7.90 on an ice-cream cone at Cowichan Bay Village.

It’s all a matter of perspective.
